Single Sign On (SSO)

Butterfly Single Sign-On (SSO) is a feature that lets users access Butterfly iQ Ultrasound functionality (both desktop and mobile) using their corporate login credentials. The integration validates usernames and passwords against a corporate user database using the SAML 2.0 protocol.

Set-up

We recommend our Enterprise Security customers to setup SSO integration as soon as feasible - this will prevent having to transition your user-base from Butterfly-specific authentication to your corporate SSO.

Butterfly SSO will work with any SAML 2.0 compliant Identify Provider (IdP). Click the links below for a step by step integration guide for the following IdPs:

Updating SSO Changes in the System

When there is a change to your SAML metadata or certificate, it can break authentication with the Butterfly system and cause a "Federated sign in failed" error message for users attempting to log in.

If aware of a change in an institution's SAML or certificate, Enterprise Administrators can follow these steps to update the metadata, once that information is provided by the SSO Administrator:

  • Log into the Cloud
  • Click the profile avatar, then, Enterprise Settings
  • Select SSO from the toolbar on the lefthand side of the screen
  • Below the box with SAML Metadata, click Clear Configuration to erase the existing metadata block, and paste the new data in.
  • Click Save Configuration
