Using Barcode Search

Barcode Search allows Butterfly users to scan barcodes using the camera native to their mobile device. This allows the user to quickly associate a study with a patient, reducing the need for manual entry.

Barcode Search is compatible with Linear 128, Aztec 2d and Data Matrix barcodes. Barcode Search is available for Butterfly Enterprise Workflow customers using worklist integration or an encounter-based worklist.

To use Barcode Search:

1. On the imaging screen, select the Capture Reel on the top right corner of your screen.
2. Select Associate Patient.
3. Select "Choose from Worklist."
4. Click the barcode icon in the upper-right-hand corner of the worklist pop-up.
5. Scan the patient barcode using your mobile device's camera. 
6. Select the patient that appears. If no patients appear, no patient data matches the barcode you scanned.

To allow Butterfly to access your iOS device's camera:

1. Navigate to your mobile device's Settings.
2. Select Butterfly iQ.
3. Allow Camera permissions.

To allow Butterfly to access your Android device's camera:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Select Apps & notifications.
3. Select Butterfly iQ.
4. Select Permissions.
5. Allow Camera permissions.
